Ouch! Words Matter and They Can Shift Our Realities

Do you have an “itty, bitty, shitty committee” in your head? Those voices that call you unsavory names sometimes? I certainly do (did). But, I’ve been aware so, I made it a point, when my child was born, to try to be mindful not to speak that way to my child and I would not allow anyone to “label” her in any way. I have to be honest, it’s kind of hard not to name-call. Why is that? I don’t know.

But what I do know is - Awareness is the first step. Words matter and in her book, “The Language of Betterarchy”, author, journalist and Quantum Languaging coach, Dani Katz invites us to use our words to shift our own realities, thereby shifting the collective consciousness.

First up, let’s talk about Labels. Those nouns that the medical and educational industrial complexes love to banter about - “the better to disempower you with, my dear.” I love the way Dani describes labels:

“There are associations that come along with labels that inhibit our freedom.” - How does that land with you, mamas who have a child that’s been labeled. Is this a truth for you?

“Labels have us carrying what was and all the associations that come along with what was and just dragging it with us..like an albatross around our necks.”

In this conversation I share with Dani, we talk about how we can shift that perception (put upon us by external sources) by turning those nouns into verbs so the label is not a permanent fixture but something that is shifting. The label is just a moment in time and not a definitive. Everything in Dani’s book inspires an empowered perspective of being.
