Connecting with the Young Child with Stephen Spitalny

In this interview with Stephen Spitalny, long time Waldorf Kindergarten teacher at the Santa Cruz Waldorf School and early childhood consultant, Stephen and I discuss the self work that is needed when we want to connect with the young child. I asked Stephen the following three questions:

1. Have you noticed a difference in the way children develop or in parenting now as compared with 10 years ago?

2. You have mentioned the three basic needs that all young children have: Safety, Contentment and Connection. Do you have any quick and easy advice for parents around these three needs?

3. Let's talk about non-judgmental parenting. What kind of inner work can adults be doing to best support the connection with their child(ren)?

Stephen is a great resource for parents, caregivers and anyone else working with young children. How to connect with Stephen Spitalny:

The Perfect Child Podcast and the website has a mission to change the paradigm of parenting through stories. These are the stories that empower us to change - our narratives, our environment, our approaches, our very thoughts - in order to stand WITH our children and advocate FOR them. Your child is perfect - the systems are not. If you would like support in deprogramming from the systems and voices that dim your child's light, I'm here to help.
